Angola Rodeo

Twice a year the Louisiana State Penitentiary (nicknamed Angola), USA is open to the general public.

There are a string of dates in April and October where guests can buy tickets to enter the prison in order to watch inmates take part in their very own rodeo.

The inmates wear classic black and white striped uniforms as they take part in such rodeo activities as; bareback riding, wild horse racing, wild cow milking and even 'convict poker'.

The wacky rodeo sensation of convict poker involves four inmate cowboys playing a friendly game of poker in the centre of the arena, when a wild bull is released towards them. The last seated poker player wins the round.
